  • Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree / diploma in nursing.
  • Current nursing license in the state of employment.

Description :

The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care.

This includes executing orders from Licensed Independent Providers, dispensing and administering medications, and assisting with examinations and treatment.

The RN applies nursing and supervisory techniques required in the care and treatment of patients.

The role involves performing all technical / clinical procedures within the scope of education and licensure.

Responsibilities include attending sick calls with the physician, preparing lists of patients for examination, and ensuring that examining rooms and equipment are ready.

The RN operates pill call, dispenses medication, and documents as required by policies and procedures.

Communication with Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders is essential and may involve emergencies.

The RN examines and assesses new patients with illnesses or injuries and refers them to emergency care if necessary.

Emergency procedures are performed as needed, and Licensed Independent Providers are notified for treatment orders.

The role also involves monitoring inpatient hospitalizations for early releases, supervising and guiding nursing care provided by other staff, and maintaining good relationships with all facility staff.

Established policies and procedures must be utilized in decision-making while also employing sound independent judgment.

The RN evaluates the provision of medical services to prevent misuse or duplication.

Absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records must be maintained.

The RN assists with reviewing medical files to ensure documented services are accurate.

Monitoring of potential catastrophic illnesses is an essential duty.

Auditing pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as required is also part of the role.

Compliance with pharmacy laws, especially regarding controlled substances, is critical.

Observation and recording of patient behavior is required.

The RN inspects the medical unit for contraband items and ensures safe storage or disposal of supplies.

Health counseling and education are provided to individuals or groups as needed.

The RN assists in preparing and maintaining various operational records, reports, and logs.

Reading, analyzing, and interpreting medical and technical procedures is necessary.

Processing and responding to lawsuits and attending court hearings may be necessary when required.

Facilitating accreditation of the medical program and preparing safety and accident reports are additional responsibilities.

Appropriate actions should be taken in response to serious incidents and emergencies.
