WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Conduct routine inspections to identify corrosion, damage, or wear; and replace components (i.e., fuses, switches, etc.), as needed
- Connect new businesses and homes to the grid; ensuring reliable service from first day
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground power lines, poles, meters, transformers, and related equipment
- Operate bucket truck, digger equipment, and specialized tools used to climb poles, handle high-voltage systems, splice wires, etc.
- Respond to outages caused by accidents, equipment failures, or storms
- Tackle a wide-range of tasks from local storm recovery, system upgrades, including out-of-state Mutual Aid deployment
- Uphold strict safety standards, and ensure all work complies with national and local electrical codes
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent accreditation PLUS two (2) years' experience working with electric line construction, electrical system maintenance and / or ground support preferred.SUBSTITUTION : Successful completion of advanced / vocational training in electrical theory or power lineman training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience
LICENSING / CERTIFICATION
Valid Driver's LicenseClass "A," Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred
(NOTE : "Manual transmission" CDL is preferred)
