Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness As the lead entity in managing the convergence of city, county, state, and federal homelessness dollars that inflow into the Los Angeles region, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) is responsible for providing leadership and advancing overall homeless coordination and planning across the Los Angeles region. The Government Affairs team is responsible for overseeing intergovernmental affairs, policy and legislative activities, and community and stakeholder engagement, managing relationships with inter- and intragovernmental organizations, and helping to coordinate the annual Point-in-Time count. Under the leadership of the Chief External Relations Officer, the Director of Government Affairs will be responsible for managing LAHSA's legislative and community relations teams. The Director will oversee governmental affairs, public policy, and legislative priorities, as well as the strategic development and implementation of local, state and federal advocacy and programs.
