Key Responsibilities

  • Source, research, and pitch original news story ideas relevant to entertainment, streaming, film, and television.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong industry contacts, including studio representatives, talent agencies, publicists, and creators.
  • Secure and conduct select high-profile interviews with talent.
  • Leverage industry contacts and talent to break exclusive news stories with accuracy and speed, while also contributing to longer form content initiatives.
  • Collaborate with editors to shape coverage strategy and ensure content aligns with audience interests.
  • Represent the publication at select events.
  • Remote freelance position to work from a location of your choice.
  • Exposure to MovieWeb’s large and passionate audience, providing an opportunity to make a genuine impact.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of professional reporting experience in entertainment journalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently source and develop compelling news stories.
  • Established studio relationships and proven ability to secure interviews.
  • Exceptional writing, interviewing, and editing skills.
  • Strong understanding of digital media, SEO, and audience engagement.
  • Ability to thrive under deadline pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality.
