About the Company / The Opportunity

Are you a seasoned legal professional with expertise in employment law and compliance? We are a leader in the manufacturing industry and are seeking an Employment Counsel to join our corporate team. This in-house role offers the opportunity to provide strategic legal advice on a broad spectrum of employment and HR matters, ensuring compliance with labor laws and supporting the organization's growth. This is a unique chance to work in a fast-paced environment while shaping HR policies and practices for a global manufacturing leader.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on employment compliance, including worker classification, wage and hour laws, and workplace safety.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants (non-compete and confidentiality agreements).
  • Oversee employment-related aspects of corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with HR managers to address compliance issues, conduct internal investigations, and manage sensitive employment matters.
  • Supervise the Corporate HR team and provide strategic leadership on discipline, terminations, wage disputes, and other HR-related issues.
  • Support and coordinate the defense of workers\' compensation claims.

Must-Have Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in employment law.
  • HR experience.
  • Solid experience in drafting and negotiating contracts (non-disclosure agreements, manufacturing supply agreements, vendor contracts, brokerage agreements, IP licensing, equipment leasing, loan agreements / notes, warehousing agreements, real estate leases and purchases, and M&A).
  • Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Previous in-house counsel experience within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong interpersonal communication.
