The Global Sustainability Lead within the Workplace Experience (WE) team at Capital Group is tasked with enhancing the employee experience by advancing the company's corporate sustainability initiatives.
This role is crucial in setting and executing sustainability objectives that support Capital Group's business operations, focusing on areas such as energy management, resource optimization, site operations, and sustainable business travel.
Key responsibilities include gathering and managing environmental data-spanning energy use, resources, site operations, and travel-for more than 30 global locations.
The Lead ensures data accuracy and compliance with global regulatory standards and works collaboratively with the Sustainability & Social Responsibility (SSR) team, as well as other WE and Capital Group teams, to further the company's sustainability goals through targeted projects and ongoing program support.
Responsibilities are many and varied and will include :
Coordinate within WE (Real Estate, Engineering, Site Operations and Travel teams), to deliver WE projects that support our sustainability goals, including :
Data collection & audit readiness
LEED certification
Site management and operations
Sustainable business travel tools
Drive integration of sustainability best practices across the Workplace Experience organization including developing and training WE colleagues to build sustainability knowledge and expertise
Analyze and validate operational sustainability data to :
Ensure accuracy, completeness, auditability and timeliness of data delivery
Identify and implement process improvements related to data collection and analysis
Recommend best practices for energy and resource efficiency and sustainability.
Drive execution of energy, water, and waste consumption reporting requirements across Capital Group's global real estate footprint, including establishing reporting tools, processes and procedures.
Liaise with the SSR team to ensure WE alignment to Capital Group's corporate sustainability strategy and execution.
Coordinate across sites to support sustainability awareness activities such as Earth Day.
Support accurate and timely responses to inquiries related to office and travel operations.
Partner with IT team to design and implement specifications for site efficiency such as metering, utility management data automation, and building management systems.
Support audit readiness and engagement with assurance providers to meet Capital Group's greenhouse gas emissions reporting requirements.

Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering, environmental science, sustainability or related disciplines.
Understand basic concepts related to efficient and sustainable site operations, metering, building management systems, engineering and sustainable design.
Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong data management skills.
Proficient with MS Office, especially SharePoint and Excel. Familiarity with analytical tools such as PowerBI is a plus.
Ability to comprehend and learn new computer programs or tools.
Experience managing process and people across an organization to get results.
Preferred :
Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Sustainability Professional (CSP), or similar certifications strongly preferred.
Familiarity with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
Demonstrated record of successful implementation of energy efficiency projects and / or sustainability / energy data management systems.
Advanced skills in managing large datasets.
Familiarity with sustainability data platforms and analytical technology tools.
Southern California Base Salary Range : $121,652-$194,643
New York Base Salary Range : $128,957-$206,331
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
