FECC Beloved Children Academy’s purpose :

To honor God by providing quality care and facilitating growth in the lives of young children in a loving and safe environment where they can develop a basic understanding of God and His Love as they grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, and socially.

To provide a Christian service to the families and children of the community.

To foster learning and allow the child to experience age-appropriate educational program.

To provide facilities where all are welcome regardless of race, color, sex, religion, or national ethnic origin.

Spiritual Qualifications

Each employee at FECC Beloved Children Academy must have received Jesus Christ as his / her personal Savior and believes that the Bible is God’s word and standard for faith and daily living.

The employee shall be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions towards others. This includes being committed to God’s biblical standard for sexual conduct.

He / she shall be a member in good standing at a local church that has a statement of faith in agreement with FECC Beloved Children Academy Statement of Faith.

He / she shall be willing to show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ.

He / she shall be in wholehearted agreement with the academy’s Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.

He / she shall have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.”

Physical Qualifications

Employees of FECC Beloved Children Academy must be able to observe, hear, and respond to the needs of children and emergencies or conflicts that might occur in a classroom, on the playground, and in common areas. Employees must have the ability to lift children weighing of up to fifty pounds from the floor to waist high ten to fifteen times a day; to crouch to a child’s height and maintain eye contact at a child’s level; to sit on the floor; to stand tall enough to reach children on play equipment; and to determine and communicate cognitive, social, and physical needs of children orally and in writing in the English language. Persons must feel confident that they can care for up to 12 children alone and can handle stress, tension, and the exasperation of daily contact with staff members, parents, and children.

Other Qualifications

  • Meets the State of Michigan requirements and qualifications for preschool teacher.
  • Has minimum three coursework in early childhood education / early child development in the areas of child growth and development; child, family and community; program / curriculum; and health, safety, and nutrition. Preferably with Associate’s / Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development.
  • Has a minimum two years’ experience working with preschool-age children in a classroom setting, preferably with one year as head teacher.
  • Possesses an ability to interact effectively with parents, peers, and staffs.
  • Has a valid certificate in Infant and Child First Aid and CPR.
  • Pass required state and company background checks.

As a FECC Beloved Children Academy Preschool Lead Teacher,

you will be responsible for planning and implementing an appropriate educational program for the children assigned to his / her class, following the guidelines of the academy’s approved curriculum.

The teacher is also responsible to fulfill assigned duties and tasks, attend in-service training and staff meeting, attend designated academy events, and abide by the terms and policies of the school as described in the personnel policies and procedures, and the academy manual.

Performance Responsibilities : Spiritual Demonstrates Christian maturity in attitude, actions and speech, showing a consistent walk with Jesus Christ.

Classroom management

  • Will plan, supervise, and implement the program for the class in accordance with the policies and Christian philosophy of FECC Beloved Children Academy.
  • Will plan, implement, and supervise a daily preschool classroom that will address the spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and mental needs of each individual child in a group environment. Will plan and use an age appropriate curriculum that permits the child to exercise his / her initiative and will help the teacher to respond within a relatively controlled and clearly defined structure.
  • Will treat all children with dignity and respect. Will follow the basic discipline formula, taking the initiative to clearly communicate disciplinary concerns to the preschool director and to the parents. Will abide by a code of confidentiality in all discipline cases.
  • Is responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom. All bulletin boards must be changed by or during the first week of each month.
  • Is responsible for an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staffs.
  • Will plan and implement methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents of students. This includes daily contact with parents as well as specific events and meetings : i.e. parent orientation, open house, conferences, etc. Will initiate extra conferences as needed throughout the school year with the input of the Academy Director.
  • Will evaluate on an on-going basis the spiritual, social, emotional, and intellectual level of the individual child. Will give a formal evaluation two times per school year.
  • Will assist in designated public relations events sponsored by the academy.
  • Additional duties are : Direction of one-year program Order of classroom supplies Report of maintenance needs in the classroom Additional appropriate duties as assigned by the director
  • Supervision plan is implemented for each teacher during the school year. Teachers are observed throughout the year by the director. Informal and formal evaluations are given during the school year.
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of children in the classroom and at the playground.
  • Exhibits a warm and friendly personality to children, staff, and parents.
  • This is a part-time (could lead to a full time) position. Hourly rate is $12-$15, benefits / compensation will be determined based on experience and education.
