Position Summary :
Under the direction of the Infection Prevention Director, the Infection Prevention RN supports the implementation of Craig Hospital’s Infection Prevention & Control Program in compliance with federal, state, and local standards. In this role, the RN works closely with clinical partners to identify risks, strengthen prevention practices, and advance a culture of safety. The RN applies the A3 quality improvement framework to guide system-level improvements, ensuring that core program elements—surveillance, education, consultation, mandated reporting, quality improvement, and regulatory preparedness—are effectively carried out.
This role holds shared responsibility for surveillance, prevention, and control of infections across the hospital and requires strong collaboration with clinical partners and departments. The Infection Prevention RN will lead case reviews with multidisciplinary teams, identify risks, and implement system-based solutions. Utilizing the A3 quality improvement framework, the RN will support the design, implementation, and evaluation of Craig’s Infection Prevention Plan.
Position Requirements :
- Licensure / Certification / Registrations : Current Certification in Infection Prevention and Control preferred; must be obtained within six months of eligibility hire and be eligible as defined by the Certified Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC). A current Colorado RN license in good standing.
- Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Experience : 2 – 4 years’ experience in a hospital setting required. Three (3) years of infection prevention and control experience preferred. Knowledge of hospital epidemiology principles, infectious diseases, and sterilization, sanitation, and disinfection practices is required.
- Skills & Abilities : Knowledge of principles, practices, procedures and patient safety principles in infection control and prevention in the patient care environment required. Able to teach subject matter to others, or train others through explanation, demonstration, and supervised practice or make recommendations on the basis of technical discipline. Excellent organization and customer service skills. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel, patients and physicians. Team-building, conflict resolution, and communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. Work collaboratively with other departments and physicians. Ability to develop facility educational and research policies and programs, quality improvement programs, and operational policies and procedures. Ability to use professional judgment to identify areas for improvement and participate in the development of quality initiatives.
Essential Functions :

Pay Range — $36.93 / Hour - $53.18 / Hour
