Description
The BIM Coordinator (VDC Lead) is responsible for the successful implementation, development, and management of VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) technologies on assigned construction projects onsite in Amarillo, TX. This role involves integrating these technologies into construction operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve project visualization. The VDC Lead oversees day-to-day operations from pre-construction through project completion and serves as the subject matter expert in construction, BIM (Building Information Modeling), and scanning technologies. This role requires strong leadership to manage site personnel, subcontractors, and resources to ensure project goals are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead onsite implementation and management of BIM / VDC technologies to support project planning, coordination, and execution.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, maintain, and coordinate BIM models aligned with project standards and goals.
- Integrate BIM into scheduling, estimating, clash detection, and quality control to minimize conflicts and enhance efficiency.
- Facilitate data exchange, 3D model coordination, and issue tracking using tools like Navisworks.
- Train team members, support technology adoption, and evaluate new BIM tools and workflows.
- Ensure model accuracy, construction readiness, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Serve as the primary BIM / VDC contact for clients and project teams, providing clear and professional communication.
- Support the implementation of digital fabrication workflows and automated processes using Dynamo, Python, or similar tools.
- Hold and attend ad-hoc meetings with subcontractors. Hold and attend daily / weekly field meetings to remain aligned with current site conditions and project sequences.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in the AEC industry, with a focus on BIM / VDC and large-scale, complex commercial or industrial projects (e.g., data centers, semiconductors).Proficient in BIM and VDC software including Revit, Navisworks (Clash Detection), AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC / BIM 360).Demonstrated leadership in managing BIM / VDC processes, coordination meetings, and cross-functional project teams.Strong understanding of construction methodologies, design documents / specs, and field coordination with trades and craft workers.Experienced in project management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office 365.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to convey technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.Proven ability to perform under pressure with strong time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Flexible work schedule; able to support extended hours or off-shift work as needed by project timelines.High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related field preferred.Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an office environment, requiring the ability to sit, stand, and use technology (e.g., computers, video conferencing tools) for extended periods of time.Ability to stand, walk, and move around the construction site for extended periods.Frequent bending, stooping, and climbing as needed for site inspections.Exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and inclement weather.Ability to work outdoors in fluctuating temperatures and conditions as required by the site.Must be comfortable working in construction site environments, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and uneven terrain.Flexibility to work various schedules and longer hours, when necessary, with little or no notice.Must be able to read documents, use a computer, and communicate verbally and in writing.Mobility required within both office and construction site environments.Potential travel to client sites, requiring adherence to safety protocols and exposure to various environmental conditions, including weather and uneven terrain.Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.ZELUS is an equal employment opportunity employer.
