Summary / Objective

Direct the operations of the Automatics Screw Machine Department, to produce the required quantity of product at the established standard cost and operating within the departmental budget.

Essential Functions of the role include :

  • Review production schedule & manufacturing orders to establish production plan.
  • Plan manpower to achieve production plan.
  • Direct other shift(s) Automatics supervisor(s) in achieving production plan.
  • Provide the necessary tooling, equipment, materials and supplies for department personnel to perform duties efficiently and safely.
  • Train staff in areas of weakness to improve abilities.
  • Establish / revise procedures for departmental operations to achieve department goals.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Human Resources to interview employees to determine skill level for openings.
  • Discipline personnel to correct performance problems.
  • Prepare tracking documents for progress on goals.
  • Support and operate within Huron's documented Quality and Environmental systems.

  • Able to communicate objectives and results to subordinates and management
  • Ability to train and educate employees
  • Ability to solve problems and find solutions to issues within the department.
  • Key Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three to five years of related experience (specifically in screw machine operations)
  • Strong problem-solving
  • Knowledge of quality systems
  • Solid time management skills
  • Effective communication skills (speaking to your employees as well as writing an effective email.)
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Applications (Word & Excel)
  • Technical Qualifications

  • Experience working with multi-spindle setup and operation, tooling and process design for screw machines
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Experience with IATF16949
  • Experience with ISO14001 preferred
  • Physical demands :

  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Occasionally will be required to work afternoon and midnight shifts to cover other shifts
  • Able to work overtime
  • Travel required :
