Job Description :
We are seeking a diligent and communicative Production Planner to manage our external work orders and vendor relationships. The successful candidate will act as the primary liaison between our organization and our outside processors and subcontractors. This role is responsible for ensuring that all externally fabricated and finished goods are produced according to our quality standards and delivered on time to meet our production and customer delivery schedules. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, have experience in subcontract manufacturing, and be a proactive problem-solver.
Key Responsibilities :
- External Work Order Management : Work with Procurement to help them create, issue, and manage purchase orders and work orders for outside processing and subcontracted manufacturing tasks.
- Vendor Coordination and Oversight : Coordinate with external vendors and subcontractors to communicate requirements, schedule production, and monitor progress.
- Material Flow and Logistics : Arrange for the transfer of raw materials, components, and partial assemblies to and from external partners, ensuring inventory accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Status Monitoring and Expediting : Track the status of all outsourced jobs and proactively address any delays or issues that could impact the master production schedule. Expedite orders as necessary to meet customer deadlines.
- Vendor Performance : Monitor vendor performance on key metrics such as on-time delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Provide feedback and contribute to vendor selection and evaluation.
- Communication : Serve as the primary communication point for external vendors, resolving issues related to drawings, specifications, and quality. Report potential supply risks and status updates to internal teams.
- System Integrity : Maintain accurate records of all external work orders, vendor contacts, and associated inventory movements within the ERP / MRP system.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proven experience as a Production Planner, Production Scheduler, or a similar role in a manufacturing environment that heavily utilizes external vendors or subcontractors.Solid understanding of supply chain logistics, inventory management, and subcontract manufacturing processes.Experience using an ERP / MRP system to manage external work orders and purchase orders.High proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and tracking vendor performance.Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on mitigating supply chain risks.Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage vendor relationships.Ability to work independently, manage multiple external projects simultaneously, and make sound decisions.Benefits :
