Must-Have :

Candidates must have 2 years of experience in an emergency room specialty.

Travel experience is preferred.

Experience in high-volume and high-acuity emergency settings is required.

Level II trauma experience or above is desired.

Description :

Telemetry, labor and delivery, emergency, and critical care nurses will take a proctored dysrhythmia test on-site.

This is a pass / fail test.

Holiday requests will be considered, but not guaranteed.

The unit has 28 beds, 4 fast track beds, 2 trauma bays, and hallway beds.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4.

The electronic medical record system used is Cerner.

Charge nurses do not take patient assignments.

Nurse aides are EMTs, with one per shift and additional midshift EMT, performing tech duties.

Every other weekend is required.

Holiday shifts will be worked into the permanent staff rotation.

Scrub color is navy.

There is 24 / 7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage.

Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

One day of call per month is expected, with some assignments possibly leading to two days.

Shifts are made out at least two weeks in advance and are self-scheduled by seniority.

There is no floating to other units.

Orientation on the floor typically covers 2-3 shifts.

The average number of patients is 155 per day, including trauma, stroke, pediatrics, and psychiatric cases.

Candidates should excel in teamwork and leadership within the emergency room environment.

Some travelers may take trauma patients, depending on experience.

Teamwork and effort enhancement in the emergency room are essential goals for new candidates.
