First Student is now hiring an Assistant Transportation Manager to join our team serving the Memphis Shelby County School District. This position plays a key role in supporting the Contractual Manager with day-to-day operations, ensuring safe and reliable transportation for our students.

We're looking for a hands-on leader who can balance operational needs with a strong commitment to safety, performance, and customer service.

Responsibilities

Ensure all home-to-school routes are completed safely, efficiently, and on time

Communicate with drivers regarding performance and operational concerns

Investigate and resolve client complaints in a timely manner

Monitor on-time performance and implement improvements as needed

Conduct safety checks and address potential issues proactively

Assist with the review and resolution of union grievances

Oversee dispatch operations to ensure proper driver and vehicle assignments

Review and correct athletic trip invoices in accordance with company policies

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

3-5 years of experience in transportation

2-3 years of supervisory experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and mechanical processes

Strong organizational and time management skills

Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends

Reliable personal vehicle for travel within the service area
