Special Education Teacher (SPED) Job Duties
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students unique needs
Provide specialized instruction to support academic and functional skill development
Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers
Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles
Track, document, and report student progress toward IEP goals
Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations
Federal and State Requirements
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required
Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws
Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Illinois school districts
