Responsibilities : Patient Care
- Apply general knowledge of diseases, conduct physical assessments, and monitor parameters to efficiently triage incoming patients
- Perform various hands-on procedures including but not limited to venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, intubation, radiographs, and basic wound cleaning / bandaging
- Provide compassionate and attentive nursing care to hospitalized patients
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by veterinarian
- Set-up, monitor, and administer intravenous fluid therapy
- Conduct laboratory tests, analyze samples, and maintain accurate records of results
- Maintain detailed and precise medical records
Surgery and Anesthesia
Induce, maintain, and monitor patients under general anesthesia and in recoveryPerform thorough dental examination, teeth cleaning, and polishingParticipate in various surgical procedures, including orthopedic surgeries like TPLO, by scrubbing in to assist the veterinarian with instrument passing and equipment managementAssist with equipment and instrument maintenance and sterilizationGeneral Tasks
Obtain accurate notes and medical history of patientsSafely restrain animals as needed while ensuring minimal stressEducate clients on preventative care, medication administration, and post-operative instructionsAcquire understanding of infectious and common zoonotic diseases, along with preventive measures and protocols to minimize transmissionMonitor inventory levels and restock suppliesProvide basic instruction and guidance to veterinary assistants, ensuring the highest standard of patient careRequirements :
Valid Veterinary Technician license or certification (will consider equivalent experience)Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a veterinary hospitalExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team settingStrong organizational skills, adept at multitasking, and meticulous attention to detailConsistently interact with hospital staff and visitors in a professional mannerAbility to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, work on the floor, and lift up to 50 lbs.Benefits
