Overview
FindTalent is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution Engineering to lead complex utility engineering projects across the Southeast. This position is well-suited for a senior-level professional with deep expertise in electrical utility systems, particularly in T&D engineering, project controls, and cross-functional leadership.
The successful candidate will manage engineering-focused initiatives supporting utility clients through all phases—from planning and design through execution and commissioning. This hybrid role blends office-based project management with site visits and stakeholder engagement, requiring a candidate with strong technical acumen, regulatory knowledge, and client-facing confidence.
Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of T&D engineering projects including conceptual design, detailed design, permitting support, and construction interface
- Oversee engineering deliverables for transmission lines (overhead / underground), substations, and distribution upgrades
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of engineers, CAD designers, and external consultants to ensure quality and timely delivery
- Serve as a primary point of contact for client utilities, engineering partners, and permitting authorities
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, standards, and applicable codes
- Monitor project performance in terms of scope, schedule, and budget using tools such as P6, MS Project, and internal controls
- Lead technical meetings, design reviews, and project updates with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with NESC, NEC, IEEE, OSHA, and applicable Southeastern utility regulations and standards
- Support material procurement strategies, bid evaluations, and contractor coordination during design-to-construction handoff
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff
- Contribute to lessons learned, quality improvement efforts, and internal best practice initiatives
Education, Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Power Engineering (or related discipline); Master's degree preferredMinimum 10 years of experience managing utility T&D engineering projects, including at least 5 years in a project leadership roleProven track record managing complex multi-million-dollar projects in regulated utility environmentsDeep familiarity with Southeastern utility systems, permitting processes, and regulatory frameworksProficiency with project management and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, CYME, Primavera P6, MS Project)Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-quality engineering solutionsExcellent communication, client management, and negotiation skillsAbility to travel regionally within the Southeast for client meetings and site assessmentsPreferred Qualifications
PE License in a Southeastern U.S. state (or ability to obtain within 6 months)PMP or similar project management certificationExperience working with major Southeastern utilities (e.g., Southern Company, Duke Energy, Entergy, Dominion Energy)Knowledge of undergrounding programs, grid modernization, and renewable energy integrationFamiliarity with FEMA guidelines, regional storm hardening practices, and resilience-focused designBenefits & Compensation
