Job Summary
The Cook is responsible for all food preparation and food inventory for facilities with a population of greater than or equal to twenty-five (25) clients.
Job Duties
- Prepares meals for the population of the facility.
- Appropriately follows and posts menus as directed by the agency nutritionist or supervisor.
- Maintains inventory of foods and food supplies and submits requisition of needs to appropriate staff.
- Maintains equipment in clean and proper operating order.
- Responsible for safety and sanitation of all foods stored, prepared, and served.
- Responsible for teams of clients and other staff as they assist in the preparation and storage of food.
- Provides training to food service assistants.
- Responsible for following all public health rules and regulations regarding food service delivery.
- Prepares monthly reports on the operation of the Food Preparation Component of the Program.
- All duties are to be in accordance with the City of Chicago and State of Illinois guidelines regarding food service.
Qualifications
Must possess a valid City and State Food Service license.High School diploma or GED equivalent.Special training in food service and nutrition recommended.Thorough understanding of public health rules and regulations regarding food safety and sanitation.Starting at $17 per hour.
