Sales and Use Tax Accountant

6 Month Contract

$26-35 / HR

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sales Tax Accountant to join our team for a 6 month contract to help the accounting team during upcoming deadlines. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with State and Local sales tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions, with a focus on complex transactions in the manufacturing and distribution industry.

Responsibilities :

• Interpret State and Local sales tax statutes to determine the taxability of sales and purchases.
• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns without the use of a sales tax platform.
• Reconcile complex sales and use tax accounts and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Conduct internal audits and support external audit processes related to sales and use tax.
• Research state-specific sales and use tax laws and regulations to ensure proper tax classification and compliance.
• Respond promptly to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding sales tax matters.
