Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled
Lead Diesel Mechanic
to join a respected organization in the Clifton Park area. This position offers the opportunity to perform hands-on mechanical work while also leading a team of technicians. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to delegate tasks effectively in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay range :
$33.00 – $45.00 per hour
, depending on experience and certifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, and lift gates.
Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability.
Handle road service calls and perform road rescue or transport equipment as needed.
Log all assigned repairs in the maintenance system.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations and government guidelines.
Maintain inventory and accurate recordkeeping.
Provide backup to other maintenance personnel as needed.
Demonstrate willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Leadership Responsibilities
Lead and support a team of three technicians.
Delegate repair tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of work.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Work Environment
This position is performed on-site within a professional maintenance facility.
Minimum Qualifications
At least
5 years of verifiable, hands-on experience
as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic.
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills using fleet maintenance software.
Proven independent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Must provide personal hand tools.
Knowledge of and compliance with
EPA
and
OSHA
regulations.
Ability to read and interpret technical and service manuals.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in computers and basic software applications.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using JPRO or similar diagnostic software.
Welding experience.
Familiarity with electrical schematics.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Prior leadership experience or supervisory qualifications.
Valid Class A CDL and DOT certification.
EPA 608 (Type 2 or Universal) certification.
