Product Engineer - Aftermarket Services, Pumps and / or Marine

Nikkiso Cryogenic Services (NCS) is the essential service arm of Nikkiso's Clean Energy & Industrial Gases Group. Position Summary

We are seeking an Aftermarket Services Product Engineer to develop processes and procedures to improve AMS products, provide technical support to service members and customers in the LNG and industrial gas industry, and manage improvement projects for the existing product lines on the aftermarket. The position serves as the remote and on-site technical lead during commissioning, installation, repair, and troubleshooting of rotating equipment and cryogenic systems.

Location : Irvine, California

Essential Functions

  • Work with multiple departments within the organization to develop new processes and improve existing ones to enhance NCS product structure.
  • Provide technical support for teams executing Field service activities.
  • Work with management and R&D teams to develop and implement product continuous improvement projects.
  • Review teardown reports and assist in failure determination.
  • Review Field Trouble Reports (FTR), disposition and follow through solution execution.
  • Analyze failures and prepare long-term corrections to CARs.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts for AMS products.
  • Review field service trip reports.
  • Manage and complete multiple tasks on time.
  • Plan, prioritize, and organize work to achieve goals and objectives with excellent follow-through and follow-up with the requirement of responding in a timely manner to customer inquiries and demands.
  • Promote customer focus.

Competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology as it applies to pumping systems or related products.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering theory related to maximizing the effective design and manufacture of pumping systems or related products.
  • Ability to discuss highly technical details of equipment with engineering, customers, and contract administration.
  • CAD - Solidworks.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Initiative.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Ability to travel globally (is a plus).
  • Cryogenic system knowledge (is a plus).
  • Pump design knowledge (is a plus).
  • Centrifugal pump knowledge (is a plus).
  • Reciprocating pump knowledge (is a plus).
  • Education and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years vocational training or Associate's Degree in a technical discipline.
  • BS Mechanical, Industrial or Process Engineering preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of customer service in a manufacturing environment in the industrial gas industry and with equipment such as pumping systems, turbo expanders, turbines, or similar rotating equipment & systems (preferred).
  • The competencies listed above are typically acquired through the levels of education and experience listed. An equivalent combination of education and / or experience that provides an applicant with the listed knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the job may be accepted.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, type, and write.
  • Reach with hands and arms, bend, stand on a stool or climb, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Use standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, copiers, etc.
  • Lift files and open desk drawers and filing cabinets.
  • Work in both office and shop environments at customer and company sites.
  • Conditions may vary at each location yet are essentially the same as listed.
  • Off hour / day availability.
  • Travel and extended stays at customer work and company sites.
