Logistics Specialist Sme

Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Logistics Specialist SME to support the United States Space Force (USSF). This role offers a unique opportunity to directly contribute to mission success and the advancement of space operations. As a Logistics Specialist SME, you will provide strategic guidance, analysis, and recommendations across the full spectrum of logistics functions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in defense acquisition, logistics planning, and government property management, including documentation, accountability, and reporting. Your insights will help shape complex procurement strategies, ensure compliance with regulations, and support long-term operational objectives for the USSF. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in logistics and acquisition processes, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert logistics guidance across all phases of the DoD acquisition lifecycle, ensuring alignment with Air Force and Space Force requirements
  • Support program offices and leadership with logistics planning, risk management, and acquisition strategies
  • Contribute to product development, science and technology programs, and long-term sustainment planning
  • Identify risks proactively and develop mitigation strategies to ensure mission success
  • Prepare and deliver clear, executive-level briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leaders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align logistics activities with strategic mission objectives

Required Skills and Experience

  • Active Top Secret / SCI
  • 15+ years of hands-on DoD logistics experience, with a comprehensive understanding of acquisition life cycle phases
  • Air Force and Space Force logistics operations, acquisition processes, and risk management practices
  • Strong background in product development and science & technology programs, including direct program office support
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Recognized for critical thinking, problem-solving, and delivering results in complex environments
  • Deep understanding of U.S. Space Force structure, mission objectives, and stakeholder priorities
  • Education and Certifications

  • Required : Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, Master's degree in a related field
  • Preferred : Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification in Program Management or related functional area, Project Management Professional certification

  • Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen
  • The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary
