Fabrication Technician

Perform a wide variety of duties to fabricate, assemble and test, various fluid power transmission and control systems involving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assembly, cutting, fitting, welding, and painting, following established methods and practices.
Essential Functions
- Work from hydraulic and electrical schematics, drawings, diagrams, photographs, bills of material, other written or verbal information or instructions.
- Use various hand and power tools and equipment such as band saws, drill press, pipe benders and threaders, gas, arc and mig welders -TIG, plasma cutting torch, spray painting equipment, etc. Connect test equipment such as flow-meters and volt-ohm meter. Work with jib cranes.
- Position various fittings, pumps, motors, valves, other components. Cut and / or drill holes in pre-fabricated tanks and covers. Weld couplings in place; design, fabricate and weld mounting brackets in place. Cut, thread, bend and assemble specified piping following accepted practices for plumbing for appearance and function.
- Pre-charge accumulators with high pressure nitrogen.
- Mount and wire electrical boxes and components according to schematics and verbal instructions.
- Operate fork lift to move completed units to test area, prepare for specified test and make corrections as necessary.
- Clean, mask and prep completed units for painting and operate spray painting equipment to prime and finish. Make up and apply required tags and labels, and mount unit for shipping.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Detect and report equipment malfunctions, unusual situations or other problems to the supervisor.
- Follow all safety rules, regulations and practices.
- Support The Hope Group Business Management System [BMS] procedures and work instructions by following established processes and supporting their continual improvement.
