Title : Patient Financial Advocate

Location : Robbinsdale, MN

Assignment Length : 8 weeks (contract-to-hire)

Compensation : $25.00-31.00 per hour

About the Role

As a Patient Financial Advocate, you will play a key role in supporting patients through the financial aspects of their healthcare journey. You will conduct comprehensive financial screenings, educate patients on insurance benefits and coverage levels, and guide them through billing and payment processes. This position is essential in ensuring patients understand their financial responsibilities and have access to available resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed financial screenings for patients.
  • Serve as the primary contact for patient education on insurance, billing, and collections.
  • Ensure accounts are cleared for billing and obtain insurance authorizations.
  • Secure payment arrangements, including collecting co-pays and coinsurance.
  • Identify alternative payment sources, including financial assistance programs.
  • Initiate and complete Medical Assistance applications when applicable.
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for services.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 12 years of experience in patient financial advocacy, registration, or accounting.
  • Proven customer service experience, especially in patient-facing financial roles.
  • Experience with Epic systems.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and families.
  • Advanced understanding of insurance processes, including government assistance programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Multilingual skills (Spanish or Hmong preferred).
  • Experience communicating with insurance carriers for service authorizations.
