Medical Assistant II

University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a 50% Medical Assistant II to work in the Adult Psychiatry Clinic. Responsibilities include, but not limited to :

• Team structure is unique, and Medical Assistants will be working with RNs, LPNs, Paramedics and Nursing Assistants. This structure gives Medical Assistants the chance to work on their delegation and prioritization skills.
• Medical Assistants spend a great deal of time working with our patients, doing faxes and limited phone triage.
• There is room for advancement to a Medical Assistant lead.
• Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
• Duties may involve the use of electronic word / data processing equipment and / or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time : 50% (20 hours per week) Schedule : 20 hours per week to be accomplished between the hours of 0730 and 1700 Monday-Friday. No holiday or call. Minimum Eligibility Requirements : Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology (include educational transcripts during application process)
