Location : Massena Hospital, 1 Hospital Drive, Massena, NY 13662

Department : MH Respiratory Therapy

Hours Per Week : 40

Schedule : 12-hour shifts with every other weekend rotation

About the Role

Are you passionate about providing top-notch respiratory care? As a Respiratory Therapist at Massena Hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients. Under the guidance of the Respiratory Therapy Manager and Director, you will be at the forefront of respiratory health, working in diverse settings including the emergency room and medical-surgical floor.

Your Responsibilities

• Utilize your initiative and independent judgment in critical situations.
• Address adverse reactions to therapy or medications, including respiratory distress and failure.
• Accept verbal and telephone orders from physicians for respiratory care, and write medication orders for the cardiopulmonary system.
• Assist in developing work methods and planning patient rounds.
• Apply your knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology and epidemiology to treat patients effectively.
• Plan and provide in-service programs on Respiratory Care for hospital staff.
• Ensure quality respiratory care is delivered as per orders and schedules.
• Perform all aspects of respiratory care, including medication administration, pulmonary function testing, and ventilation management.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new services.
• Conduct Electrocardiograms and Methacholine Challenge Testing as needed.
• Be an integral part of the treatment team for all patients you consult on, from admission to discharge planning.
• Administer inhalation therapy and IV medications related to the cardiopulmonary system.

Working Conditions

This position is part of the CSEA - Civil Service Employees Association (MH). Please note that not all per diem roles are union eligible.

Physical Requirements

This role involves medium work, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently. You will need to be comfortable with frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

Compensation

Pay Range : $31.80 - $42.99

This pay range represents the potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant and may be adjusted in the future. Compensation is influenced by experience, qualifications, specialty, and other factors.
