Area Controller

About the Role

Our client is a well-established leader in their industry, known for decades of reliable service and strong growth. They are seeking a Area Controller to oversee financial operations for a designated region, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and support for senior leadership. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of accounting processes and applying US GAAP standards across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Produce accurate and timely financial statements and management reports in compliance with US GAAP.

Design, implement, and monitor financial and accounting policies and internal controls.

Manage the monthly closing process, ensuring deadlines are met for both monthly and quarterly reporting.

Provide leadership to staff accountants and deliver accounting support to regional VPs.

Coordinate regional documentation and deliverables for the annual external audit.

Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for direct and indirect tax filings within the region.

Oversee balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure all accounts have proper documentation.

Refresh and update policies, procedures, and process flows to support scalability and efficiency.

Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management required; CPA preferred.

At least 7 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting / financial software

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal control frameworks.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Demonstrated skills in leadership, organization, and communication (written and verbal).

Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.

Adaptable, ethical, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Compensation

$115,000 – $135,000 annually, plus competitive benefits.
