Overview

Base pay range : $60,000.00 / yr - $82,500.00 / yr. Centivo is an innovative health plan for self-funded employers, with a mission to bring affordable, high-quality healthcare to workers who struggle to pay their healthcare bills.

Summary of Role : Under the guidance of the Plan Documents Manager, the Plan Documents Specialist, Jr. will work cross-functionally with the Configuration, Implementation, Client Success, and Product teams to ensure best-in-class output, client experience and satisfaction. This role includes regular interaction with brokers, agents, TPAs, stop loss carriers, and other applicable vendors and clients.

This position is a key member of the delivery team, facilitating client onboarding for document preparation, client changes, document management, and other duties related to requirements for employer-sponsored welfare benefit plans under applicable federal and employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in client implementation and client plan changes, defining clients' benefits and structure for document preparation / completion for required plan document creation.
  • Manage benefit plan documentation processes, including conducting a complete, section-by-section review of prospective conversion plan documents, such as the Summary of Material Modification (SMM), plan amendments, and Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC).
  • Review prospective conversion plan documents for a Summary Plan Description (SPD) with feedback / assistance from Senior team members or Plan Documents Manager as needed.
  • Draft, finalize, and maintain standard benefit plan documents (SBCs, and standard to intermediate level plan amendments) by identifying change requests and coordinating with senior team members as needed.
  • Draft standard SPDs (or those with minimal customization) with guidance from Senior team members or Plan Documents Manager.
  • Identify missing items needed for document preparation; submit finalized plan documents and any changes to carriers, Stop Loss team, and PDM vendor; determine necessary updates for accuracy and seamless coverage.
  • Manage and maintain a book of business primarily relating to Mid-Market accounts and / or projects as directed.
  • Stay current on ERISA, PPACA, and related laws / regulations as they relate to plan benefits.
  • Elevate client issues to leadership or Client Success team when necessary.
  • May assist in training Analysts and newly hired Junior team members; may support client communications such as introductory calls with guidance from Senior team members and Plan Documents Manager.
  • Perform other miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills and Abilities : strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; ability to identify and communicate issues found during drafting.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Demonstrated ability to meet performance goals, including accuracy and productivity.
  • Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated, and exercise proactivity and creativity in problem solving.
  • Understanding of compliance principles as they apply to document drafting and client communication.
  • Team player, able to take instruction when necessary; adaptable to fast-paced work environment.
  • Passion and drive for delivering quality documents; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Typing speed of at least 60-70 WPM.
  • Education and Experience

  • 1-3 years of employee benefits paralegal or similar job experience required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Health and Welfare benefit consulting in ERISA & Non-ERISA plans.
  • 3 years of experience in client management in self-funding document creation and management.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience required.
  • Paralegal or related degree.
  • Experience with PDM online portal or similar document management portal is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DOL Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) templates and SBC Coverage Examples Calculator.
  • Exposure to plan / policy documents, including amendments / SMMs, in prior work environments is a plus.
