American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown position in an acute Level 1 trauma setting, requiring a NE or compact RN license and night shift availability.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a cardiac stepdown (CVU) unit within an acute hospital environmentUnit consists of 18 beds, providing care for patients requiring intermediate cardiac support and downgraded CVICU patientsCommon diagnoses include post-surgical cardiac, thoracic cases, cath lab procedures, CVAs, CHF, A-fib RVR, and other cardiac / vascular conditionsPatient ratio is typically 1 : 4, with a 1 : 3 ratio for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hoursRNs titrate multiple cardiac and blood pressure drips, including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, and cardizemNight shifts are 12 hours (1830-0700), with every other weekend requiredRNs are required to float to all units with the same or lower acuity as neededEpic is the charting system used for documentationRemote telemetry techs in use, with RNs responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry stripsBiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula are used on the unitResponsibilities include caring for intermediate cardiac patients, titrating drips, and interpreting telemetry stripsCharge nurse is available on each shift and rarely takes an assignmentAides / patient care techs are available on the unitHospitalist and intensivist in house 24 / 7 with cardiology on-call after hoursNavy blue scrubs requiredCandidates must comply with the fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails in patient care areasUnit-specific orientation is tailored to experience and needs (typically 1-2 shifts)Request for time off (up to 7 days per 13-week contract) must be submitted up front; no additional RTO will be approvedFirst-time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n
Active NE or compact RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years RN experience, with at least 1 year caring for cardiac stepdown or similar patient populationCurrent certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS requiredAbility to titrate various cardiac and vasoactive drips is essentialEpic EMR experience preferredMust pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, determined by driver’s licenseCandidates must not be employed (full, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year\n Benefits\n
