What To Expect
You will be responsible for driving innovation and a first principles mindset, managing projects to completion, and supporting Infrastructure Development for Sales, Service, Delivery, Collision, and Warehousing projects across North & South America. The ideal candidate thrives in a technically complex and fast-moving environment and is willing to challenge the status quo.
What You'll Do
- Develop & create standard basis of design for Fire Protection scope of work. Improve processes, workflows, and templates to increase design productivity and quality, collaborating with outsourced Fire Engineers.
- Work with Fire Protection Engineers to develop AM&M (Alternate Means & Methods), Risk Mitigation Plans (RMP), and other detailed studies for local AHJ submissions, ensuring performance-based design criteria meet code intent.
- Perform code planning and life safety design review, including building code, fire sprinkler, fire alarm, paint spray applications, high-piled storage plans, and hazardous material analysis for compliance.
- Build external partner resources for design execution, collaborating with them and internal teams to see projects through to completion.
- Advocate and educate AHJs on Tesla's behalf, particularly regarding lithium-ion technology and safety standards; educate internal teams on fire life safety requirements, inspections, testing, and maintenance.
- Support fire inspections at the project level, manage fire safety consultants and vendors, coordinate surveys and deliverables, and review construction documents to ensure standards and best practices.
- Maintain project drawings, track records, and apply lessons learned to future projects, formalizing standards for repeatability.
What You'll Bring
ABET-accredited 4-year Engineering Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Design.Ability to learn rapidly and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.Revit experience.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to travel up to 50% and work in a fast-paced environment.Working knowledge of IFC, CFC, NFPA, OSHA, and other regulations; international regulations are a plus.Benefits
