Position Highlights

This position is located in Sioux Falls, SD and is not a remote position

Position Summary :

The IP Coder is responsible for the timely and accurate assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient charts for Avera Heart Hospital of SD. Accurate abstracting, along with other reporting and editing functions, is also within the scope of the Coder. The Coder will work to meet quality and production goals for the position, with guidance from other professionals.

Work Shift :

Monday - Friday 8am-4 : 30pm

Education / Experience :

High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor Degree in Health Information Administration or Associates Degree in Health Information Technology preferred.

1 year of coding experience preferred.

Licensure / Certification :

If not certified or registered, the employee is encouraged to obtain one of the certifications below within 12 months of employment. (Preferred upon hire) (Ranked by preference)

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)

Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
