Overview

Litigation Legal Assistant – Downtown Fort Lauderdale – A well-established law firm in Downtown Fort Lauderdale is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support a busy commercial litigation practice. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This position includes both traditional legal assistant duties and some paralegal responsibilities, with billable time tracking required.

$70,000.00 / yr - $90,000.00 / yr

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, and file pleadings in state and federal courts.
  • Manage case files—both electronic and physical—including pleadings, correspondence, and discovery.
  • Handle client intake, open new matters, and manage engagement documentation.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, conference calls, and videoconferences.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, contacts, and deadlines.
  • Assist with document organization, discovery responses, and trial preparation (exhibit lists, witness binders, etc.).
  • Coordinate with litigation support vendors to meet strict deadlines.
  • Draft correspondence and assist attorneys with meeting preparation.
  • Enter billable and nonbillable time, process expense reports, and assist with accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client and firm information.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in Commercial Litigation
  • Proficiency in Florida state and federal e-filing systems required.
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, deadlines, and rules.
  • E-discovery experience and familiarity with Relativity is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management software.
