Their expertise lies in developing high-performance mechanical and electrical systems for complex facilities. They are seeking a Senior Building Automation Systems Design Engineer to join their team. Openings are available in :

  • One role based in either Los Angeles, CA / Charlotte, NC / Richmond, VA / Washington, D.C. / Dallas, TX

This position is ideal for a forward-thinking professional with a strong background in building automation and smart building technology, who is motivated to drive innovation and sustainable facility design.

Base pay range

$100,000.00 / yr - $150,000.00 / yr

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead BMS Consultant, overseeing controls design and integration activities across multiple markets including aviation, healthcare, critical facilities, pharmaceutical, and finance.
  • Manage and mentor project teams, ensuring quality design deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and integrated system documents.
  • Support clients with vendor evaluation, solution selection, and system procurement.
  • Collaborate with internal mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) teams to deliver seamless project outcomes.
  • Attend and lead project meetings, maintaining strong communication with clients, contractors, and internal leaders.
  • Manage quality control, resource allocation, and financial oversight of assigned projects.
  • Develop and implement updated BMS processes and standards.
  • Support business development and client relationship growth initiatives.
  • Provide leadership in hiring, training, and performance management of staff.
  • Some travel within the U.S. will be required to support project sites and collaborate with teams.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in the HVAC controls sector, with consulting, design, or engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and electrical instrumentation design, building control sequences, and IT infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with smart building integration, low-voltage systems, IoT, lighting control, and fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with analytical software platforms for performance monitoring and energy efficiency.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, lead teams, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is desirable but not essential.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations such as ASHRAE or CABA is a plus.
