Building Structural Engineer – Project Manager

Location : Downtown St. Louis, MO (Hybrid flexibility available, local presence required)

Compensation : $85,000 – $150,000 base salary

Relocation : Assistance considered for the right candidate

About the Company

We are a 100% employee-owned engineering firm with a long history and a strong growth trajectory. Our team has doubled in size in recent years, and our building structural group is expanding rapidly. With a key departure creating immediate workload pressure, we are seeking a motivated Building Structural Engineer – Project Manager to step in, manage projects, and help mentor junior engineers.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on role for a technically proficient structural engineer who thrives on project ownership. You’ll manage building renovation and new construction projects from investigation to completion—analyzing existing structures, writing technical reports, designing in Revit / RAM / Risa, and guiding junior engineers. The role is designed to relieve workload from the group director and offers excellent visibility and growth potential.

Responsibilities

  • Manage renovation and new construction projects, from site investigations to final design
  • Perform structural analysis of existing buildings, foundations, and equipment loads
  • Prepare detailed technical reports with strong written documentation
  • Provide design work using Revit, RAM, and Risa
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their technical development
  • Collaborate with major clients such as Boeing and Washington University School of Medicine

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 3–5+ years of structural engineering experience (not entry-level)
  • EIT with clear path to PE, or recently licensed PE
  • Strong technical proficiency in Revit, RAM, and Risa (hands-on design role)
  • Experience with building renovations, repairs, and existing structure analysis
  • Fall protection assessment / design experience is a plus
  • Strong technical writing skills for detailed reports
  • Clear desire to pursue SE licensure (key screening requirement)
  • What We Offer

  • Competitive salary ($85K–$120K)
  • Hybrid work schedule (up to 3 days / week remote; local presence required for site work)
  • Relocation assistance for the right candidate
  • 100% employee ownership through ESOP (share price jumped $20 last year)
  • 401(k) with 3% Safe Harbor contribution, in addition to ESOP
  • Company pays 75% of health insurance premiums (employee-only through full family)
  • Negotiable PTO, with credit for up to 10 years of prior experience
  • A collaborative environment with direct access to leadership and technical experts
  • Who Thrives Here

This role is perfect for a motivated engineer who is technically strong, proactive, and ready to manage projects independently. You’ll succeed if you’re eager to take the reins, mentor others, and grow into a long-term leadership track with a stable, employee-owned firm.
