Overview

At the Wyoming Attorney General's Office, we strive to provide quality legal services to state agencies to effect better outcomes for Wyoming citizens. Attorneys in our office develop their legal skills in a collaborative environment while doing interesting and meaningful work and maintaining a work-life balance. The Civil Division seeks an attorney to provide legal advice and litigation services to multiple state agencies, which may include the Secretary of State, Board of Nursing, and various licensing agencies. Responsibilities may also include evaluating election complaints and reviewing nonprofit dissolutions. The attorney will perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the Civil Division and the Office of the Attorney General.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze complicated legal and factual issues and present complex concepts clearly in written and oral form.
  • Review, respond to, and advise the agency on inquiries, complaints, and other communications.
  • Conduct legal research to provide day-to-day advice.
  • Present legal conclusions and advice in various formats, including legal documents, oral presentations, and formal and informal opinions.
  • Advise agency clients regarding relevant statutes and administrative procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Civil Division and Office goals.

Qualifications

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Juris Doctorate.
  • KNOWLEDGE : Ability to exercise independent judgment; knowledge of trial and appellate practice; knowledge of administrative law and civil procedure.
  • EDUCATION : Juris Doctorate.

  • Salary is commensurate with relevant legal experience

  • This is an at-will position. The attorney will be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Attorney General (Wyoming Statutes)
