Key Responsibilities :
Cost Estimation :
Preparing detailed estimates for projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other project documents.
Quantity Takeoff :
Accurately measuring and calculating the quantities of materials needed for a project.
Subcontractor Management :
Soliciting and evaluating bids from subcontractors, and reviewing their work scopes.
Pricing and Cost Analysis :
Researching and analyzing material, labor, and equipment costs, and developing pricing strategies.
Bid Preparation :
Compiling all cost data, specifications, and timelines into comprehensive bid proposals.
Value Engineering :
Identifying opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or functionality.
Project Support :
Assisting project managers and other team members with cost-related tasks throughout the project lifecycle.
Staying Updated :
Keeping abreast of construction methods, materials, and cost trends.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
Education :
A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is often preferred.
Experience :
Previous experience in construction estimating is essential, and 5+ years is common for senior positions.
Software Proficiency :
Familiarity with construction estimating software like Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, or On-Screen Takeoff.
Technical Skills :
Strong analytical and mathematical skills, ability to read and interpret blueprints, and a solid understanding of construction methods and materials.
Soft Skills :
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, as well as strong organizational and time management abilities.
Attention to Detail :
Accuracy and thoroughness are crucial in this role.
