Registered Nurse – MS / Tele (ED Boarder Unit)

Facility : University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center

Location : 301 Hospital Dr, Glen Burnie, MD 21061-5899

Start Date : November 3, 2025

Duration : 13 Weeks

Shift : Nights – 3x12 Hours (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM)

Schedule : Every other weekend required

Position Overview

This position is within the ED Boarder Unit of the MS / Tele specialty, handling adult and geriatric patients. Nurses should be experienced in managing a 1 : 5 ratio and be confident in providing care in a high-volume telemetry setting. Candidates must have recent MS / Tele experience and be prepared to float within the facility. First-time travelers will not be considered.

Requirements

  • Licensure : Active MD RN License or Compact License – Required at time of submission
  • Experience : Minimum 2 years – Required (first-time travelers not accepted)
  • Travel Experience : Required
  • Local Radius Rule : Locals within 50 miles – Not accepted

    • Certifications

  • BLS (AHA) – Required
  • ACLS (AHA) – Required
  • CPI – Required (Calm Every Storm version only)
  • NIHSS – Required

    • Charting System

  • Epic – Required

    • Core Skills & Competencies

    IV Therapy / Phlebotomy :

  • Blood product administration
  • Starting and maintaining IVs
  • PICC line management
  • Peripheral line care / management
  • Phlebotomy

    • Respiratory Care :

  • Oxygen administration (via nasal cannula, tanks)
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Tracheostomy care

    • Medications & Monitoring :

  • Heparin protocols
  • Cardiac drips (no titration)
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Telemetry monitoring on unit

    • Renal / Genitourinary :

  • Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)

    • Gastrointestinal :

  • Feeding tube care and management

    • Neurological / Psychiatric :

  • Seizure disorders
  • Substance withdrawal management

    • Other Skills :

  • Isolation precautions
  • Wound care / Wound Vac
