TIG Welder
Description
TIG Welder - using the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process to join metals like aluminum and stainless steel with high precision. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, preparing and cutting metal, setting up TIG welding equipment, executing high-quality welds, inspecting completed work for quality and defects, performing maintenance on equipment, and adhering to strict safety protocols.
Welder : The Welder must be qualified on TIG weld process to include horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions at various heights. Some work will be performed out of boom and / or scissor lifts. Sets up parts for welding; uses hand tools, clamps, jigs and fixtures. Works from specifications, drawings and weld symbols. Flexibility in industrial manufacturing facilities, both clean and dirty environments.
Responsibilities :
- Follow all safety regulations including wearing all required personal protection equipment (PPE).
- Proficient in TIG in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Prepare materials for welding, fit the components, and perform welding process per drawing specification.
- Layout, position, align, fit, clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required preparation, configuration and / or position for welding.
- Work from drawings, work orders, supervisor’s instructions, weld procedure specifications (WPS) using American Welding Society (AWS) symbols.
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding process to avoid overheating of parts.
- Use tools of measurement for checking dimensions of parts, work to tolerances.
- Visually examine welds for quality.
- Operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Handle materials as needed by hand, overhead crane, forklift, and other material handling equipment.
- Maintain work area in safe, clean, and orderly condition.
Physical Demands :
Working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain.Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required.Crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required.Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.Requirements :
High school degree or equivalent required.Ability to perform TIG welds that pass visual examination and x-ray testing in various positions.Ability to read and interpret blueprints.2-5 years experience welding in an industrial environment.MUST pass a 6G weld test using TIG on schedule 40 carbon steel piping.Pay up to $40 depending on experience
