Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Med / Surg Tele position on a mixed acuity surgical oncology floor requiring a current OH or compact RN license and strong oncology experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital-based Med / Surg Tele unit with a focus on surgical oncologyMixed acuity unit caring for both Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Med / Surg patientsAdult and geriatric patient populations, including surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastic surgery casesTypical nurse-to-patient ratios aim for 1 : 4 but may be up to 1 : 5Unit performs specialized procedures such as chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manages oncologic emergenciesUtilizes Epic electronic medical record systemNight shift (3x12 hours); day / night shift option availableVariable weekend scheduling based on unit needsSelf-scheduling requests are accepted and balanced prior to final postingFirst week of orientation is Monday through Friday dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptorLocals are accepted at the same pay ratePrimary responsibilities include caring for complex surgical oncology patients and managing specialized infusions or emergenciesHeavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall preventionOrientation includes structured classroom and on-unit preceptorshipTravelers must comply with all fingerprinting and credentialing requirements without delayAll requested time off must be submitted and approved as part of the contractTeam consists of PCU-trained permanent staff with strong support for travelersNo set or blocked scheduling is offered, consistent with permanent staff policiesFirst time travelers will be considered for this roleRequirements
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent RN experience requiredBasic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications requiredGraduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program is requiredONS Chemo certification preferredTwo professional references are required, with one from a supervisor, manager, or charge RNExperience with Epic charting is preferredMust be eligible for and able to complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after offerFormer employees eligible only after 6 months away from facility; current employees at any Ohio State University hospital are not eligibleBenefits
