Lincoln Hall’s Family Reunification Program (FRP) is on a 450-acre campus in Westchester County, NY, about 45 minutes north of New York City. The FRP provides temporary shelter services to unaccompanied children until they can be safely reunified with sponsors in the United States. While in our care, the children receive a host of services, including clinical, case management, medical, nutritional, recreational, religious, and educational services, all aimed at supporting the child’s physical, mental, behavioral, and emotional well-being.
Job Description – LPN
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Licensed Practical Nurse, as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the New York State Board of Nursing, provides nursing care to residents. The scope of practice for the Licensed Practical Nurse, by the objectives of the Agency, standards and policies of the department, and within the parameters of his or her preparation, will include, but not be limited to, participating in the planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care as it relates to the health of residents.
Essential Functions :
- Provides direct and indirect care given to the residents in compliance with Agency policies, professional standards, the scope of practice, practitioner’s orders, and state and federal guidelines.
- Responsible for appropriate observation, assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management.
- Functions strictly by the NYS Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and Agency policy and procedures. Practices strictly within the scope of practice.
- Observes, records, and reports the condition of residents to other nursing staff and the Director.
- Responsible to check logs, mailboxes, and e-mails at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Provides emotional support and comfort to residents.
- Prepares, administers, and records medications by practitioner’s orders and departmental policy regarding administration of medications.
- Assists in the scheduling of off-property medical appointments and follow-up care.
- Assists in all functions of the Health Center, including drug testing, and general office administration.
- Acts as a liaison between the Health Center and other departments.
- Administers immunizations as required by NYS regulations and maintains immunization records.
- Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
- Maintains the required level of professionalism at all times in practice at the agency and abides by the HIPAA Privacy Act and Confidentiality Policy of the facility.
- Participates in orientation and in-service training as assigned.
- Performs nursing and non-nursing duties as assigned.
- Participates in Agency safety programs or committees as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in a safe manner
Qualifications :
Degree from an accredited School of Nursing with current and valid NYS Board of NursingLicense.
Must possess and maintain American Red Cross certification in First Aid and CPR.At least one-year clinical experience preferred. One to three years of experience working with adolescents is a plus.Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.Must be resourceful and calm in emergencies.Strong organizational, verbal, and interpersonal skills.Must have tact, discretion, and experience handling sensitive and confidential information while maintaining a professional approachPhysical Requirements :
Must be able to carry out all job responsibilities in a safe mannerMust be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.Job Type : Full-Time
