Job Summary and Qualifications

General Statement of Duties :

Provide every patient with the highest quality of professional care and ensure the safety of the patient while in transport. Uses good body mechanics needed to care for patients. Demonstrates knowledge needed for proper use of wheelchairs, stretchers and other transporting equipment.

Shift :   Saturday & Sunday 9 : 00am-9 : 00pm

May handle, pick up, deliver and / or stock non-controlled medications as directed by a licensed team member.

Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.

Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.

Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.

The Transporter shall play an active role in orientation and training of new employees. Yearly, the Transporter will participate in and complete their Job Skills / Competency checklist.

Completes other duties as assigned.

Job Dimensions

Qualifications :

Minimum Education and Experience :  Highschool graduate or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in the Hospital role desirable.

Minimum License and Certificates Required :  Must hold a current CPR certification or must obtain during orientation period.
