Job Description
American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a high-acuity ICU / Stepdown mixed unit, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Position is in a mixed ICU and stepdown unit with 24 to 36 bedsUnit cares for neuro, cardiac, and postsurgical patients with a high acuity case mixNurse-to-patient ratios typically 1 : 2-3, may flex depending on unit census and staffingUtilizes Alaris pumps, ventilators, CPAP / BiPAP, pressors; advanced equipment includes IABP, EVD, ICP, TVP, CRRT, Impella, Swan-Ganz, and ECMOWork schedule is 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday requiredFloat to all levels of care may be requiredEpic EHR training is preferredDysrhythmia exam required with study guide provided; EKG test on first day with two attempts to passNot accepting local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facilityTeam includes intensivist, resident, mid-level providers, rapid response team, and 24 / 7 house supervisor supportNavy blue scrubs are requiredResponsibilities include hemodynamic monitoring and managing critically ill patients with multi-system organ failure or traumaHoliday coverage is expected according to scheduling needsFirst schedule is assigned based on need with input on preferences; future scheduling is self-scheduledOrientation includes unit-specific procedures and equipment as necessaryRequirements
Active OH or compact RN license requiredCurrent BLS is preferred upon hire but must be obtained before direct patient careACLS required within 6 months of hireMinimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience requiredBachelor of Science in Nursing preferredPrior experience in a critical care setting preferredAbility to perform clinical care associated with life-supporting technologies such as ventilator management, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMOBenefits
