Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder's Northern California & Pacific Area is seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Geotechnical Engineer to expand and help lead a team of engineers, manage projects, and develop client portfolios. The ideal candidate will sit in our Concord, CA or San Francisco, CA office with the ability to travel 1 to 2 days a week to our Santa Rosa, CA office.

This professional will support a variety of public and private clients in the areas of commercial development, school and university work, transportation, oil and gas, power and water projects across Northern and Central California, and other locations nationally.

As part of the assigned duties the Geotechnical Engineer will develop technical scope for proposals, perform geotechnical engineering design and prepare geotechnical engineering reports as the Geotechnical Engineer of Record. This position will include staff supervision and mentoring to assure delivery of industry-specific solutions to our clients. The successful candidate will assure client needs are met by providing constructible designs, meeting deadlines, and creating clear communications with our clients.

We are offering a minimum $10,000 sign on bonus for this role!

Responsibilities and competencies

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
• Experience with performing foundation capacity analysis, slope stability analysis, liquefaction assessments, and settlement analysis
• Experience planning, implementing, and managing geotechnical exploration programs including assigning laboratory testing
• Experience guiding staff engineers in performing material and site characterization, seepage, slope stability, settlement analyses, etc.
• Experience preparing geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications for foundations and earthwork for a wide range of projects including transportation, water, retail, hospitality, commercial, etc.
• Experience supporting project managers in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks
• Experience preparing and presenting technical presentations to clients and technical review boards
• Experience supervising field observation, testing, and performing site visits
• Ability to proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve with practical, client-focused solutions
• Experience leading teams and professionally developing staff at all levels
• Ability to organize priorities and multi-task effectively
• Possess a thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range : $98,010 - 143,000.
