Overview
Location : Beachwood, OH
Position is an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist working primarily on environmental health tasks with some safety responsibilities.
Hours : 1st shift, Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 am – 4 : 30 pm EST
Base pay range : $75,000.00 / yr - $85,000.00 / yr
Salary : $70-85K (FLSA status – Exempt)
Responsibilities
- Work with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture and address concerns.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs and initiatives that align with the organization's goals and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations. Keep abreast of changes in regulations and assess their impact on company operations.
- Design and conduct EHS training programs for employees at all levels to promote a strong safety culture. Ensure all employees are aware of EHS policies and procedures.
- Lead investigations of workplace incidents, near misses, and environmental incidents. Analyze findings to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of workplace practices and environmental compliance. Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls.
- Oversee waste management and environmental compliance activities, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to integrate safety practices into daily operations and projects.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records related to EHS activities, including inspections, audits, and compliance reports.
- Stay informed of industry best practices, trends, and technologies related to environmental health and safety. Recommend and implement improvements based on findings.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Observe all safety and ISO 9001 / 14001 Requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.At least three years of experience in environmental health and safety roles in an industrial manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT).Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.Proficiency in MS Office Suite and EHS management software.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and environmental sustainability.Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) is a plus.Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check, pre-placement physical and pre-employment drug-screen.Seniority level
