Role Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Field Service Engineer to join our team, responsible for managing servicing activities for ViewRay Systems equipment within your assigned territory. In this role, you will provide field service and technical support for our customers through various channels, including phone, online, or onsite visits, depending on machine status and customer needs. You will have the autonomy to manage your schedule and prioritize work to ensure urgent customer requirements are addressed promptly, maximizing customer satisfaction.

Flexibility in working hours is essential, as you may be required to work outside the traditional 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm schedule, including weekends, to meet service obligations and customer needs. This position reports to the Director of Global Field Service.

Responsibilities

  • ­ Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by responding promptly to customer inquiries, maintaining clear and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders, and delivering professional service and maintenance.
  • Implement our customer support strategy to enhance long-term customer loyalty across the installed base.
  • Accurately document work activities in our customer management database to maintain a comprehensive service history for regulatory compliance.
  • Own the on-site spare and consumable inventory and storage area(s).
  • Assist with the installation of new systems at customer sites when necessary.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and a strong ability to follow up on tasks.
  • Work independently and effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Travel outside assigned territory as required to assist other ViewRay Systems sites and Field Service Engineers. Some sites may be outside the United States.
  • Domestic and international travel - from days to up to two to three weeks at a time.

Education, Experience, and Skills

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Biomedical Engineering (BME), Mechanical Engineering (ME) or equivalent experience required.

Experience

2-4 years of field service experience with radiation-producing medical devices such as Linear Accelerators, MRI, or CT is preferred.

  • Experience with high-power RF systems, magnetics, and cryogenic systems is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in field service for medical devices and engineering is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working with high-power RF systems, magnetics, and cryogenic systems is preferred.
  • Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to provide proof of proper immunizations as required by customer sites.
  • Must pass a criminal background check annually.
  • Must pass a drug screening
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours with significant travel requirements.
  • Comfort and ability to work around high-strength magnets for extended periods of time.
  • Excellent system-level troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including an understanding of networking.
  • Ability to work both independently and with other Field Service Engineers as many tasks require more than one FSE.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Routinely lift and move physical inventory, tools, test equipment, or boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally transport physical inventory weighing up to 1500 pounds using lifting / moving devices such as jib cranes, boom cranes, lifting fixtures, hand dollies, and equipment dollies.
  • Periodically lift, move, or hold machine parts weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Periodically stand, kneel, or crouch as needed during machine maintenance or repair tasks.
  • Ability to work with an always-on magnetic field of 0.35 Tesla for hours at a time
