We have immediate opening (s) for qualified Outside Machinist – Journeyman

The opportunity is available with Integrated Marine Services, Inc. a ship repair company in Chula Vista, CA. The qualified applicant is currently working as an outside machinist or has recent, relevant experience working on marine equipment including topside equipment such as cranes, winches, boat davits, conveyers, elevators, anchors, steering gears, etc., and on propulsion equipment including pumps, valve, limitorques, boilers, and other engine room related equipment.

SUMMARY

Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, be able to disassemble and dimensionally inspect equipment and reassemble equipment using blueprints to OEM specifications. Qualified candidate must be able to proficiently utilize measuring instruments including micrometers, scales, gages, etc. to set and adjust machine clearances, bearing clearance and gear thrusts and backlash. .

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read and interpret complex equipment drawings
• Be proficient using complex measuring instruments
• Be able to rig equipment on / off vessel
• Be able to disassemble and dimensionally inspect equipment
• Be able to reassemble, set & adjust equipment to OEM specs
• Be able to align driver to driven equipment using dial indicators or laser alignment tool.
• Be able to set-up and test overhauled equipment in shop and shipboard
• Must have own tools of the trade
• Must be able to climb up and down ladders while carrying heavy tool bag to access work areas
