THE OPPORTUNITY
Maintains, inspects, operates, and repairs building HVAC and refrigeration systems, hot water systems, and components at Babson College. Adjusts systems for optimal performance to ensure compliance with building and heating / cooling codes. The working hours are Monday through Friday, 3 : 00pm - 11 : 30pm.
The hourly rate is $46.37.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Operate, adjust, and inspect HVAC, refrigeration systems, and auxiliary equipment to detect hazards, malfunctions, and the need for adjustments or replacements.
- Monitor HVAC / R equipment via energy management software and make necessary corrections.
- Maintain HVAC, refrigeration systems, cooling towers, pumps, and related equipment.
- Repair or replace faulty equipment, motors, controls, valves, and related components.
- Perform diagnostic testing to identify causes of system failures and develop solutions.
- Document all repairs and maintenance activities accurately in logs and databases.
- Coordinate work with other technicians and contractors, ensuring systems operate within design parameters.
- Balance workload and respond to service requests efficiently.
- Execute repairs and installations adhering to manufacturer specifications and local codes.
- Assist other department members and support campus events and activities.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
Refrigerant reclaiming certification, high school diploma or GED, Massachusetts Refrigeration license.4-6 years of related experience or equivalent training; knowledge of HVAC control systems.Ability to work well in a team and interact professionally with students, staff, and faculty.Ability to interpret safety rules, MSDS, mechanical drawings, and manuals.Ability to write instructions, logs, and problem descriptions.Effective communication skills for explaining issues and operating requirements.Ability to understand and carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.Ability to handle multiple variables and order replacement parts efficiently.HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License for at least one year and maintain insurable status.Complete and pass the college's vehicle training program within 60 days.Attend safety training as required.Physical Environment and Demands
