Must-Have Skills / Experience :
Obtains and documents a general history from all patients, including diagnosis and medications, 100% of the time.
Prepares patients and applies electrodes using the international 10-20 system, 100% of the time, and routinely within 30 minutes.
Recognizes artifacts on recording, attempting to eliminate them 80% of the time, and requests assistance when in question.
Completes sleep record according to department policy and procedure, assuring accurate data is collected and documented, meeting basic competency of task accomplishment.
Recognizes and corrects malfunctions of equipment to provide optimal test results, meeting basic competency of quality focus.
Communicates effectively with patients about expectations and requirements for optimal testing, meeting basic competency of service orientation.
Completes and forwards data to appropriate personnel at the end of each study, meeting the basic competency of task accomplishment.
Recognizes, monitors, and eliminates artifacts such as high-impedance leads, muscle artifact, eye movements, and respiration artifact to obtain an adequate test.
Assures proper documentation of procedures with effective communication to patients and staff.
Prepares patients for sleep studies in a professional manner as specified by physicians, 100% of the time.
Requests assistance when preparation instructions are unclear.
Scores and records accurate information on designated forms legibly for physicians 100% of the time.
Carries functional pager at all times and returns calls from the hospital or physician offices within 30 minutes.
Description :
The position involves conducting sleep studies to assess patients' sleep quality and diagnose sleep disorders.
Successful candidates will have experience in polysomnography and a working knowledge of sleep study equipment.
Attention to detail and effective patient communication skills are essential.
Candidates will engage with both pediatric and adult patients and will be expected to maintain professionalism throughout the process.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate a commitment to quality care and the ability to work effectively in a team.
