Highway Maintenance Worker

WSDOT is currently seeking two maintenance professionals to join our maintenance team in Bellingham, WA. In these journey-level roles, you will play a vital part in preserving and maintaining highway infrastructure to ensure the safety and mobility of the traveling public. Under the guidance of a Highway Maintenance Worker 3, you will operate a variety of specialized highway equipment and tools to perform roadway maintenance, and repairs. These positions will also provide the opportunity to lead maintenance crews in the absence of a supervisor, supporting the continuity of operations and crew safety. Success in these roles require a strong commitment to safety, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, effective communication, and technical expertise in roadway maintenance practices and equipment operation.
These positions will be assigned to the night shift, the typical schedule is Sunday through Wednesday, for 4, 10-hour shifts, 8 PM 6 : 30 AM. These positions perform work that is often physical in nature and performed primarily outdoors, often next to high-volume, high-speed traffic that may require standing for extended periods of time. These positions require quick response times to job sites. Weekends and holidays may be required to respond to non-scheduled or call-out emergencies. Occasional call-out / call-back for overtime required.

This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) night shift positions and may also be used to fill additional positions per business needs.
In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position.
