Overview
The Design Assistant supports the Senior Interior Designer in all phases of the design and implementation process for elevator interior modernization and new installation projects. This role works closely with the Senior Interior Designer, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Operations to ensure materials, designs, and presentations meet project objectives and client expectations. The Assistant plays a critical role in keeping design initiatives organized and moving forward efficiently.
Responsibilities
Design Support accompany Senior Interior Designer and Sales Associates on site visits to survey existing elevator interiors and gather design parameters. Assist with client interactions to collect design preferences and project needs. Help prepare sketches, renderings, and presentation boards with support from third-party vendors. Assist with design documentation, sample tracking, and coordination of design meetings.
Material Sample Management maintain and organize the Material Sample Library and Showroom; ensure samples are up to date and available for current and future projects. Request project-specific and general material samples from vendors; assist in sourcing new materials suitable for elevator interior use. Submit and track project specific samples and approvals.
Secondary Responsibilities / Functions
Design / Marketing Support maintain digital rendering and completed project portfolio for internal use, sales, and marketing. Assist with the virtual inventory of remnant materials and generate one-off design options for client presentations. Attend industry events and trade shows to assist with marketing and client engagement initiatives. Add new renderings to our lobby slideshow. Do site visits of completed projects worthy of After Photos, take photos, clean them up, and add to our After Photo library. Send After Photos to vendors whose materials were used in the project. Support in maintaining the website updated with new projects. Assist in the beautification process for Vasile Elevator Facility with materials, renderings, vendors, etc.
Material Quotes assist in obtaining material pricing from vendors by performing basic take-offs and calculations. Support the evaluation of materials for weight restrictions, performance, compliance, and suitability for use in elevator interiors.
Engineering Review assist in reviewing shop drawings and design specifications for consistency with the design intent before final release to Purchasing.
Errands perform occasional errands for design-related needs, such as material drop-offs, vendor visits, or supply pickups. Company vehicle and / or mileage reimbursement provided.

Education, Skills & Experience
College degree required minimum 2-year degree with Interior Design or Architecture; 4-year degree preferred. Candidates with sufficient experience may be considered in lieu of degree and must demonstrate knowledge of materials and design at interview.
Experience
Customer service experience required
Experience creating & interpreting ID drawings required
Proficiency with MS Office required
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Photoshop, Revit, Adobe Illustrator or similar, Canva preferred
Proficiency with QuickBooks preferred
Proficiency with PM or CRM software (Wrike, Monday, Salesforce, ZOHO One) preferred
Skills & Qualities

Articulate with polished written and verbal communication
Computer savvy
Strong math & analytical skills
Desire to learn a new industry (if not familiar with elevator industry)
Hours
9am 3pm, Mon Thursday; potential to go full-time after 90 days if both parties agree. Potential to grow into a full-time Interior Designer position.
Compensation / Benefits
$21.00 $25.00, commensurate with experience & education
3 weeks paid vacation per year, accrued bi-weekly
5 paid holidays per year
