Job Description

Govig & Associates has been retained to identify a highly skilled and experienced Regional Nurse Consultant (RN) to provide leadership, clinical oversight, and regulatory guidance for nursing home facilities in the Chicagoland area. You’ll work closely with Directors of Nursing (DONs), senior clinical staff, and facility leadership to establish best practices, improve patient outcomes, and align operational strategies with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight across facilities, ensuring adherence to CMS, Medicare / Medicaid, and state regulations.
  • Partner with DONs and facility leadership to strengthen nursing practices, address challenges, and support staff development.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, including QAPI programs, and ensure timely follow-up on all findings.
  • Standardize and implement policies, procedures, and best practices across facilities to ensure consistency in care delivery.
  • Conduct regular audits and performance reviews of care plans, MDS processes, and clinical documentation.
  • Provide guidance on staffing models, resource allocation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • 5+ years of experience in long-term care or skilled nursing, including prior leadership (DON, Regional Nurse Consultant, or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of MDS 3.0, RAI processes, Medicare / Medicaid regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems (PointClickCare or similar EMRs).
  • Ability to travel regularly between facilities (all within 30 minutes).
